Provide students, faculty, and staff with support on advanced issues and projects that requires in depth knowledge of Linux servers, filesystems, and networks. Deploy specialized systems to provide containers (Docker) and Virtual Machines (VMs) for use by students and faculty. Resolve complex issues, architect solutions, and plan, procure, and deploy, well integrated solutions to practical problems. Provide design guidance and technical assistance for research faculty and students and deploy robust and dynamically extensible solutions for instructional faculty. Specify, procure, and deploy specialized systems to meet research computing requirements, including the use of accelerators like GPUs and FPGAs. Support research faculty and students with high-performance computing systems, networks, and filesystems. Support job , like SLURM, to provide accounting, resource allocation, prioritization, and performance analysis. Install and update scientific software applications as a centralized resource for the department from start to finish to be available on the private cloud. (Examples are programming languages, compilers, drivers, visualization tools, and machine learning packages. This involves building, installing, and packaging these applications on a filesystem for use by any user, utilizing the 'module' facility. Provide debugging and update support for these applications.) Collaborate within a team to mentor junior staff; documenting designs and infrastructure in clear language accessible to lower-level staff. Plan system upgrades of server, filesystem, and network equipment to keep the Dept's infrastructure current. Advance one's career through training on new and trending technologies. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, and at least 5 years of relevant experience (to include experience with Linux and networking,) is required. Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
