About the Position:
Desired profile for this position is someone who has experience working with children, possesses strong classroom management skills, and has the ability to guide children through redirection and affirmative language.
An open-mind, a sense of humor, and flexibility are also highly desired.
Children's House students are ages 2 1/2-Kindergarten.
Children's House Assistant is responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:
Supervising students ages 2 1/2 - 5 in the classroom, and ensuring a calm, peaceful environment Assisting with general monitoring of playground and meal time to ensure safety and order Developing sound relationships with all students and colleagues Ensuring group transitions happen safely and effectively Maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios at all times Classroom Maintenance/cleaning Effectively communicate and collaborate with classroom team.
Be flexible and work closely with other the Children's House classrooms and staff.
Must follow all Mountaintop Montessori policies and procedures, as well as all Virginia Department of Social Services licensing standards and Health Dept.

Qualifications:
As a condition of employment, a criminal background check and fingerprinting are required.
Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance in performance of essential job functions.
Experience working with children.
Ability to work effectively with parents, co-workers, and diverse communities.
Self-motivated individual who demonstrates a positive attitude and commitment to respectful interactions Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with co-workers and children with honesty, kindness and patience.
Physical requirements include the ability to sit on the floor with students, squat down to a childs eye level, kneel, lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and perform basic cleaning tasks.
This position begins mid-August.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
