Job Duties


The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is excited to announce an opportunity to serve as a Business Coordinator in our Research Council.
This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Position specific responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Processes all staff reimbursement requests. Reviews and processes vendor invoices related to interns, rental of vehicles and fuel. Works with staff to coordinate Background/Fingerprinting checks for new employees. Manages badging for the office. Provides administrative support to the Research Council staff for building issues, vehicle reservations, accidents, and Workers Comp claims. Performs quarterly expenditure reviews and closeout of projects. Assists the Implementation Coordinator with project tracking. Maintains the employee database. As a backup, covers the front desk for building access and deliveries, assists with developing project budgets, and scheduling meeting rooms. Performs other administrative duties as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Ability to use financial management and budgeting computer programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Google Email and Google Docs
  • Experience with administrative and accounting policies, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of budget development and expenditure review

Additional Considerations


  • Knowledge of administrative procurement principles and practices
  • Experience using Cardinal
  • Ability to research, analyze, formal data and prepare reports and recommendations
  • Skills in electronic procurement and financial management systems
  • Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures
  • Functional and technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Google Email and Google Document) at a high level of accomplishment
  • Ability to create pivot tables in MS Excel with data from various databases to create summaries and analyze reports
  • A combination of training, experience or education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation or related field desired

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
