Job Description
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

The Emergency Services Department of Martha Jefferson Hospital provides high-quality, state-of-the-art emergency care for patients at two locations in the Charlottesville area. Our main hospital Emergency Department has 23 beds with an additional 5 minor emergency care beds. The Freestanding Emergency Department, conveniently located on the northern corridor of Albemarle County, has 15 beds with radiology and lab services on-site. Both locations offer emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 seven days a week.
With an average door-to-bed time of less than 15 minutes, Martha Jefferson's award-winning Emergency Department strives to exceed patient expectations. Our staff is proud to provide Emergency Services to Charlottesville and the surrounding areas.
